Kelly Pitcher

Kelly joined the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology in February 2016. She holds an LLB from the University of Kent, an LLM in Criminal Justice & Human Rights from the University of Aberdeen and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam. The title of her doctoral thesis is ‘Judicial Responses to Pre-Trial Procedural Violations in International Criminal Proceedings’, which she defended in September 2016 (published by T.M.C. Asser Press/Springer). Prior to this, Kelly worked with counsel representing accused at the UN International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and studied Dutch law at the University of Amsterdam.

Kelly’s research interests lie in the fields of criminal procedure and criminal evidence, with an emphasis on comparative, human rights and theoretical perspectives.
