Jiang Fengan (Richard) joined the Europa Institute at the University Leiden as a PhD fellow in 2014 (China Scholarship Council Scholarship). His PhD research focuses on the WTO challenges raised by the Chinese new trade policy. This research will be based on a legal and comparative analysis with the European Union and the East African Community.

Richard graduated from the East China University of Political Science and Law (Shanghai) in 2009, after which he started his career as a PRC lawyer. In 2014, he obtained an advanced master’s degree in European and International Business Law. During his studies in Leiden, he was a researcher at the Centre for Legal and Comparative Studies of the East African Community at the Europa Institute,  Leiden University.
