Hanna holds an LL.M. degree in International and European Law from the University of Amsterdam. She joined the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies in October 2012. Her research analyses the contribution of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACtHR) to the project of international criminal justice. In particular, it seeks to determine whether and how the IACtHR has functioned as a catalyst for the implementation and enforcement of international criminal law. The research will zero in on the duty to prosecute. It will take a two-pronged approach. It will investigate (1) how this concept and its sub-elements have been interpreted in the context of international crimes, and subsequently it will examine (2) how and whether the case law of the IACtHR has been followed up in the relevant domestic jurisdictions.
