Pieter obtained his bachelor of Laws from Utrecht university in 2013. He subsequently followed a master’s programme in Jurisprudence and Philosophy of Law at Leiden university, graduating in 2014. During this programme he specialised in ICT law, and privacy and security on the Internet. His master’s thesis was an analysis ofFoucault’s Panopticism in relation to surveillance, privacy, Big Data and consent in the Internet. In February 2015, Pieter started working at Leiden Law School’s Center for Law and Digital Technologies (eLaw). He is undertaking PhD research into network security in Telecommunications law, under the supervision of Professors Gera van Duijvenvoorde and Serge Gijrath.
