Chiaki Takenouchi is a legal anthropologist and a project manager at an international NGO based in Beirut, Lebanon. She holds an Advanced LL.M. in International Children’s Rights from Leiden University, and a B.A. (with Honours) in Social Science with a Major in International Relations and Anthropology from University College Utrecht.
Chiaki completed her socio-legal research internship at the International Development and Law Organisation (IDLO) in The Hague, and has worked as a Legal Assistant/Project Officer assisting asylum seekers and migrants at an implementing partner organisation of UNHCR in Tokyo (Japan Association for Refugees, NGO).
Her current work in Lebanon mainly focuses on educational and psycho-social assistance for Syrian refugee children and other vulnerable children. Her research interests include: living rights of children (legal anthropology of child rights); children’s rights in migration contexts; stateless children’s rights; and children’s rights under conflicts affected societies (particularly peace education, transitional justice and restorative justice).
