Thijs is a graduate of the master’s programme in children’s rights (cum laude) at Leiden Law School, Leiden University and is currently completing a second master: internet, intellectual property law and ICT at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He specializes in data protection law and children’s rights in the digital world. He wrote his master’s thesis on profiling and automated decision making in relation to children and for his research he was nominated for the Jaap Doek children’s rights thesis prize 2018. Thijs worked for the Children’s Rights department at Leiden University and is currently working at the privacy department of Kennedy Van der Laan in Amsterdam. He would like to be admitted to the Dutch bar as soon as he completes his second master.
